Barren and Maiden mare barn

This is one of several large tobbacco barns that have converted to house our mares. Their tall airy design provides excellant ventilation which makes them ideal as horse shelter.

Yearling facility

Our 20 stall yearling barn is surrounded by 10 paddocks as well as several large fields. A 4 horse equine walker provides a sfe and effective way to help condition young horses for sale.

Lite Light, Champion 3-year-old filly Bred and sold by Mr & Mrs R Smiser West and Mr & Mrs Mackenzie Miller, won the Oak Leaf (gr. II) and Sorrento (gr. III) Stakes. The following year, she captured the Coaching Club American Oaks (gr. I), Kentucky Oaks (gr. I), Santa Anita Oaks (gr. I), Las Virgenes Stakes (gr. I), and Fantasy Stakes (gr. II) and earned $1,231,596.

Mares at Pasture

Pasture is the natural basis of our farms's success. Horses are grazers, and do best when they can nibble grass all day long. Our rolling pastures sink their roots into topsoil often tens of feet deep, and enriched by calcium rich ground waters.

Red Tailed Hawk

Our farms 1000 acres are not only home for our mares and foals. The abundant mineral rich groundwater so vital for growing thoroughbred althletes, reaches the surface in a few springs, large and small. These in turn feed Lee's Branch which runs through a wildlfe filled wetland. Farm visitors often comment that the drive to the office is both beautiful and largely unspoiled. And through the efforts of Mrs. Karhyrn West, it will remain that way for many uears to come.
